Drivers · Lanes · Hotshot

Fast, specific, your call.

Hotshot is time-sensitive freight — the loads a customer pays a premium to move right now, on a truck that can get on the road fast. Hotshot at Onyx is owner-operator work. You bring your own gooseneck or deck-over rig, and we bring the freight desk. The pace is quick and the work varies. If you already run hotshot and want a steady freight partner, we'd like to meet.

The work

How the partnership works

What it's like.

An Onyx Logistics Ram 2500 HD with a heavy-duty grille guard, hooked to a gooseneck flatbed loaded with a Horizon Systems silver tank, parked on a concrete yard at the Strafford, Missouri facility.

Hotshot at Onyx is owner-operator work. You bring the truck and the trailer. We bring the freight desk.

Our dispatchers work the customer relationships and feed loads as they come in — sometimes the night before, sometimes the same morning. The pace varies. The lanes change. You spend less time on the same loop.

The right fit

Who it's for.

Owner-operators with their own gooseneck or deck-over rig who want a steady source of hotshot freight.

Drivers who can act fast on a dispatch call — take a load offer, look at the route and the clock, and be hooked up and rolling without a long ramp-up.

Routes + rhythm

The lane.

A forklift operator unloading freight from an Onyx Logistics hotshot gooseneck trailer at a delivery destination — Toyota lift truck mid-action approaching the loaded silver tank.

Hotshot freight is by nature unpredictable. Some weeks are heavy and fast. Some are slower while the customer pipeline resets.

Runs are regional, with the occasional longer haul. Pay structure and settlement details get walked through during the application conversation — those specifics live in the partnership agreement.

Equipment + specifics

What you’d need.

Rear three-quarter view of an Onyx Logistics gooseneck flatbed loaded with a Horizon Systems silver tank and steel framing, parked at the Strafford, Missouri yard.

Truck and gooseneck or deck-over trailer in good running condition, current insurance, clean compliance record, and the experience to run hotshot freight without supervision.

If you're close on the requirements but not quite there, tell us anyway. Sometimes the gap is smaller than it looks.
